Citizen meets in London have for the most part been held at a pub called the Lord Moon on The Mall on Whitehall, and occur EVERY Friday from approx 6pm onwards. Everyone is welcome, and good times are had.
If you happen to be in London on a Friday evening pop along and say hello, or check the 'Citizen Meets' section on the forum (Direct link to thread here). Don't be afraid to post in here! We may ramble, but it's not an exclusive group! :)

[edit] Where are they held:
The first ever meet was held at Yates' in Leicester Square, but then moved to the Montagu Pyke in Charing Cross Road, London for the next six months. We've now (as of March 2006) decided to try a new location... the Lord Moon Of The Mall. Unfortunately, time and money and other plans means the meets have fizzled out as of late (January 2008) however random meet ups can try and be arranged with fellow citizens in the area if interest is shown, especially for special visits.
[edit] Who can attend:
Basically, ANYONE! If you're a Lovely citizen, you're more than welcome, but Joinees and "regular people" are also very welcome to attend! The only stipulation we have is due to the rules and regulations of the places we meet. The Lord Moon on The Mall does allow underaged people in (I'll get back to you if I'm wrong), however obviously they will refuse to allow alcohol to those without the correct identification to prove thier age.It is hoped that once the weather gets warmer again that we will hold some London Citizen Picnic Meets in Hyde Park or something during the Summer of 2006 so that citizens of ALL ages can attend. (Note: Always make sure to ask the permission of parents or guardians before wandering off to meet strangers... even if you "know" them off the internet, and always let friends/family members know where you're going! We are all friendly but make sure to keep SAFE! Remember, parents and family members are just as welcome to come along too!)

So you're tempted to join us at one of the London Citizen Meets now we've moved to the Lord Moon on the Mall? Excellent! Now all we need to do is get you there. The first tip is to disregard the name... as it's actually on Whitehall, not the Mall, hehe. Click herefor the site with a map of the pub's exact location.Five easy steps to fun, the basic directions are as follows:
- 1) Get to London (unless you live here already)
- 2) Take the tube/train to Charing Cross (or bus it to Trafalgar Square, if so skip to step 4)
- 3) With the station *behind you*, turn left and walk towards Trafalgar Square. Continue walking until you reach Whitehall.
- 4) Turn into Whitehall, and you should quickly see the theatre. The pub is right next to that, to the left if you're facing the theatre.
- 5) Ta daaa! Arrive and wander inside, look for citizens (it might help to see what some of us regulars look like from photo albums linked below)
[edit] How they all started:
The first ever meet was planned pretty much by accident. Two citizens (Princess Hayley and Dancingweeman) had decided to meet up one day at Yates' in Leicester Square. They threw open the invitation to other citizens via a thread on the forum. In the end many citizens arrived... but NOT dancingweeman! After a good evening, involving some lobbying and the distribution of recruitment stickers, nametags and flyers including one to a bemused BORIS JOHNSON who happened to be passing though Leicester Square.. sadly he declined an offer of a leaflet.
Since that meet was declared a happy success, it was repeated the following week at another pub which had a bit more space and cheaper prices (hurrah!). This is where the MP meets began, and continued every Friday until we decided to "calm things down" a little and after our honourary citizen barman, the one and only Chris from Oz left, we shifted to a new pub where we will hopefully continue our happy Friday meets for many more months to come!
...dancingweeman has still never shown...
